The UK’s first media academy comes to The Old Vinyl Factory

We’re excited to announce that one of the world’s leading media and entertainment groups, Global, has begun construction of the Global Academy, a university technical college and the digital broadcasting industry’s first ever higher education facility which is due to open in September 2016 at The Old Vinyl Factory.

The Global Academy will provide academic and vocational training for 800 students who want to work in the broadcast and digital media industries preparing them for jobs in radio and TV production, broadcast engineering, app and web development, broadcast journalism and more.

The original site of EMI records’ headquarters, The Old Vinyl Factory has a long history as the centre of the UK’s record-making industry, so it’s perfectly fitting that one of the world’s leading media groups is now joining, establishing a new chapter in the life of this major mixed-use site. Our vision for The Old Vinyl Factory has always been to turn this former manufacturing and innovation hub back into a sustainable, economically thriving place to live, work and learn. The Global Academy is a significant and exciting part of that ambitious masterplan.
