U+I PLC selects its first panel of lawyers

23.09.16

The UK’s leading mixed-use regeneration developer, U+I PLC, has chosen its first group of law firms to be used on an exclusive basis in the UK.

U+I was created as a result of the merger of Development Securities PLC and Cathedral Group and launched under its new name in November of last year. The move to create a panel of preferred law firms has come about as the process of bringing the two businesses continues.

The law firms that have been chosen after a rigorous selection process are:

  • Gowling WLG
  • Clyde & Co
  • Nabarro
  • Hogan Lovells
  • Osborne Clarke

“We are both delighted and excited to be working with such a strong panel of firms. In going through the selection process, we looked for and found partners who shared our vision and our values. This was essential as we are a business very much driven by our values, and have a vision to be a new kind of property Regeneration Company. This shared approach will ensure our partners are clear on how we approach our business and our work with stakeholders, ensure the effectiveness of our working relationships and also deliver efficiencies in service and cost. We look forward to working with each of our selected partners as we continue to transform towns and cities into thriving communities and neighbourhoods throughout the UK,” said U+I Legal Counsel, Stewart Whittle.

U+I’s focus is on mixed use regeneration schemes in the London, the South-East, Manchester and Dublin, often delivered through Public Private Partnerships. The panel will only be deployed on UK property projects.

In the past year, U+I has had an impressive record of iconic project wins, ranging from permissions granted for projects in Ashford, Ilford and Lichfield to mandates won for the development of for former London Fire Brigade headquarters at Albert Embankment, being selected by Camden Council to develop Holborn Library and Cockpit Yard, chosen for a regeneration project at Blackhorse Road in North East London and, most recently, winning the competition to develop a major mixed use site at Mayfield in Manchester.
