We are pleased to announce that residents at FIELD, our meanwhile use scheme based at Preston Barracks in Brighton & Hove, will be hosting a summer fete on 17 June for the local community, as part of The Great Get Together.
With more than 100,000 Get Togethers planned across the county, the initiative was created as a way of celebrating the late MP Jo Cox’s belief that we “have far more in common than that which divides us”, a view which we strongly support and chimes with our own core belief that everything is connected, as we strive to create places that nurture diverse and thriving communities.
Throughout the day, there will be a range of activities taking place for local residents, including a South African braai-style BBQ, live music, velocipede races and a cycle obstacle course.
Richard Upton, Deputy CEO, said:
"At U+I we believe in building genuine connections with the communities in which we work. We are delighted to be working with the FIELD residents to host a Great Get Together in Brighton. The entrepreneurs at FIELD regularly work together and welcome visitors to the site, but we hope that on 17 June more local people than ever before will come together at FIELD”.
FIELD offers a temporary home to some of the most innovative start-ups in Brighton who have been given access to free workspace to help them to develop and bring their products to market. With a planning application currently being considered for the comprehensive regeneration of the site, FIELD has already begun to bring the area to life and is sowing the seeds for the exciting longer-term plans for the site.
