U+I success at NLA Awards 2016

Our HQ scooped the top spot in the Office Interiors category at the New London Architecture Awards 2016 yesterday.

The office, a joint effort by a creative team that included Coffey Architects, Ab Rogers Design, North Design and Stephan Dowers, has been designed to deliver the best modern working environment for our team that encourages a spirit of collaboration and creativity.

The cause for celebration at the NLA Awards didn’t end there.

We were delighted to receive a special commendation for the Deptford Project in the Mayor’s Prize category, which celebrates projects that creatively contribute to the capital’s economy. Our mixed-use scheme has succeeded in helping local entrepreneurs graduate from pop-up traders to having a first permanent shop under the iconic Deptford arches, turning an overlooked, derelict site into a thriving community hub and new visitor destination for Deptford. The arches will be open for business in late summer.

Our Platform Southwark project also received a commendation in the Temporary Use category. Formerly a dilapidated office building, the space was transformed to become Platform – a multidiscipline temporary project space for artists and local groups to work, rehearse, and collaborate, hosting exhibitions and regular community events.

The annual awards are organised and hosted by New London Architecture to celebrate the best architecture and development recently completed or in design across the capital.

From a shortlist of 136 projects, 26 category winners were honoured across all sectors of London’s built environment, ranging from housing to offices, education to transport and infrastructure, and public spaces to masterplans and area strategies. Each scheme was selected by a prestigious international jury for having both the highest design quality and most positive social and economic impact for London.
