Public Private Partnership
At Circus Street in Brighton, we’re turning a derelict municipal market into an innovation quarter. In the process, we're creating a sustainable, productive, healthy model of city life, with great public spaces, a lively, creative atmosphere and a real sense of community.
Since securing funding from GCP Student Living Plc and Gravis Capital Management Limited, construction is underway to deliver 142 new homes, 450 student bedrooms, and 32,742 sq. ft. of new office space, including workshops for start-ups. This £130 million Public Private Partnership with Brighton and Hove Council will also provide the local area with a new base for the internationally acclaimed South East Dance.
On completion, we will have delivered over 400 new jobs and more than £200 million gross value added to the local economy in the next 10 years. For an area that's previously been underserved in terms of green space, the new accommodation will be built around two large, green urban squares. This will encourage the growth of fruit and vegetables in allotments (taking inspiration from the municipal market where fresh produce was once sold), and allow the planting of disease resistant elms and steps to nurture bio diversity.
There will be a big focus on travel by bike and foot, a push for green energy with residential design that encourages more communal, responsible, neighbourly living among tenants.
