McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Cannock is set to make Cannock a must visit destination for shoppers from the West Midlands and beyond.
In September 2016, Cannock Chase District Council approved planning permission for a designer outlet at Mill Green and in December 2017 McArthurGlen announced a joint venture with Aviva Investors, The Richardson Family and U+I to develop McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Cannock, which will span 285,000 sq ft of retail space across two phases.
The project will bring new jobs and increased visitors to the whole area with a design that is in keeping with the nearby high street and nature reserve next door. Situated within a mile of both Cannock train station and the town centre, with easy access to the M6 and M6 toll, McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Cannock is ideally located to serve the entire West Midlands region.
Extensive consultation with the community showed that 80% are in favour of the plans. Phase I will be home to over 80 premium and luxury brands, together with a range of restaurants and cafes, 1,800 car parking spaces, a children’s playground, bike parking for cyclists and provisions for guests arriving by coach. Upon completion of Phase II, the centre will span a total of 285,000 sq ft of retail space with 130 stores.
We’re also investing in a number of offsite improvements, such as creating a dual carriageway, new roundabouts and better road junctions to cater for the predicted influx of visitors. Mill Green Nature Reserve will also benefit from improved access via pedestrian crossings and cycle routes as well as the introduction of a heritage trail.
The finished site will be completed by 2020 and will bring 1,000 jobs to the area.
