STREETS ALIVE WITH GLASGOW'S BRILLIANCE

Mixed-Use Urban Regeneration

The Galleries, Glasgow

The Galleries, our vision for the redevelopment of Buchanan Galleries, is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to enhance Glasgow’s position as a leading employment, retail, leisure, and cultural destination. The vision is to replace a large, single use covered shopping centre, transforming it into a series of streets alive with Glasgow’s brilliance nestled within clusters of flexible blocks, buildings and public spaces.

The Galleries will be a mix of streets and spaces designed to celebrate Glasgow’s brilliance and to be enjoyed by all.

The Galleries Masterplan will:

  • Be the catalyst for transformational recovery and the regeneration of Glasgow City Centre, bringing significant socio-economic benefits, including new high value and more diverse employment opportunities.
  • Deliver on multiple Glasgow City Council and Scottish Government priorities, planning policies and commitments.
  • Increase activity and accessibility around the city centre’s key public transport hubs, promoting active travel and a sustainable transport modal shift.
  • Provide the next generation of attractive sustainable workspaces.
  • Support a range of uses including, shopping, leisure, civic spaces and housing.
  • Have sustainability at the core of the design through pioneering new construction methods that enable sustainable operation.
  • Make a strong contribution to the city townscape through the open and accessible extension of the Glasgow grid, providing thriving new public spaces, greening and new amenities for residents, visitors and workers alike and streets that are alive with possibility for everyone.
